Originally from California, Deepvibez has been a resident of Seattle since 2004, and a Uniting Souls resident since 2006. Deepvibez has kept busy in the studio, as well as on the stage, performing alongside the greats of house – including Miguel Migs, Mark Farina, Johnny Fiasco, and Kaskade – and dropping his first vinyl release on Mindshift Records in February of 2011. Derrick’s Bay-Area roots reflect in his DJ sets as well as his production work, a hybrid sound blending essential elements of funky, jazzy, deep house with darker, minimal, tech-house – heavy, yet not oppressive bass-lines, sophisticated loops and percussive layers tinged with a tribal, psychedelic edge.
